Ulysses S. Grant Military Document Signed as ad interim Secretary of War. One partly-printed page, 8" x 10", Washington, November 6, 1867, appointing Thomas I. Gregg of Pennsylvania "a Captain by Brevet" for "gallant and meritorious services during the war." Grant's signature on this War Department document has slightly faded.
