    Description

Ulysses S. Grant Autograph Note Signed. One ruled page, 5" x 3.25", Nashville, Tennessee, December 22, 1863. Grant pens the following sentiments to a local farmer: "To Master Geo. A. Tripp Farm. [Signed] U. S. Grant Maj. Gen. U.S.A." Earlier in July, Grant had become famous when he took Vicksburg. After then, he shifted his efforts into Tennessee where, less than a month before penning this, he had defeated Confederate General Braxton Bragg at Chattanooga. Grant's star had begun to rise. Mounting remnants on the corners, else, very clean.
