Description

Ulysses S. Grant Autograph Letter Signed. Two pages of a bifolium, 9.5" x 7.75", New York, October 30, 1882. Addressed to Frederick W. Griffin, secretary of the New England Manufacturers' and Mechanics' Institute in Boston, Grant apologizes for the delay in response and accepts an invitation to view "its present exhibition of industries."

Condition: Separation and paper loss along the vertical fold has been archivally repaired in two places. A 1" tear at the lower edge, which does not affect the text, has been repaired with clear tape. Scattered foxing.
