    Description

Ulysses S. Grant Affix the Seal Document Signed "U.S. Grant." One partially printed page, 7.5" x 6.5" (sight), Washington, D.C.; October 15, 1870. President Grant authorizes and directs "the Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to a Warrant for the pardon of Tyre Odell." The document is matted and framed with a black and white photograph of Grant, measuring 18" x 11.75" overall.

Although it is unknown what crime Odell committed, a $25 reward was placed on his head after he and two other men escaped from Pickens County Jail on September 8, 1870. It is believed that Grant pardoned approximately 1,332 people during the term of his presidency.

Condition: Document has two horizontal flattened folds, and is toned around margins. Some small areas of foxing exist, but overall very fine.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
