Thomas Jefferson Scallop Top Ship's Passport Signed "Th. Jefferson". One partially printed page on vellum, 10.25" x 15.25", Washington, D.C. Issued to the "Brig. Thomas of New Bedford", with no captain, burthen, or further details listed. With a blind embossed paper seal. Boasting a bold signature by Jefferson. Countersigned by James Madison as Secretary of State.

Condition: With flattened folds, the paper is stiff where the creases occur. Light edge and fold toning. There are dark soiling marks throughout the whole of the document and on verso. Some creasing around the seal and worn corners.
