Thomas Jefferson Document Signed "Th. Jefferson" as president. One partially printed page, on vellum, 12.25" x 15.5", Washington; January 18, 1809. A document granting to John S. Will "...Eight Hundred acres situate between the Little Miami and Sciota Rivers, north-west of the River Ohio..." The land is awarded "in consideration of military service performed by Thomas Altop (a Soldier for the War), Jacob Deiner (a Sergeant for three years), Stephen Fletcher (a Soldier for the War) and Robert Hart (a Drum Major for three years) to the United States, in the Virginia Line on Continental Establishment, and in pursuance of an Act of Congress of the United States..." Countersigned by James Madison as Secretary of State, with a blind embossed paper seal affixed at the lower left corner.
