Document appointing "William Patterson of New York...Commercial Agent...for the port of Nantz in France." Boldly signed "Th. Jefferson" as president and "James Madison" as Secretary of State, with a blind embossed paper seal.

    Condition: Lightly toned along edges, slight creasing around paper seal, flattened vertical and horizontal folds. Signatures are bold and clear.
