Roosevelt remarks, "I am particularly sorry that I am unable to be present, for if there is an American citizen, of whom as an American citizen, I am proud, and whom I should delight to honor, it is Archbishop Keane...I respect him as a man and a prelate, and I feel that all who are interested in the higher life of America should honor one who by his life has consistently, through mere force of example, taught the beauty of purity and social and care morality." Roosevelt has added three words in black ink. Recipient's name and street address have been crossed out at bottom.

Condition: Usual mail folds with some wear thereat, light toning and soiling throughout. Some ink has bled on the last line of text on the first page. Pencil notation at upper left corner.
