    TAFT AUTOGRAPH AND POSTCARDS.

    Taft, William Howard (1857-1930). Twenty-seventh president of the United States and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the only man to hold both positions! ADS, April 11, 1919, a check inscribed and signed by Taft, payable to the Hotel McAlpin for $50, and drawn on the Washington, DC account of Taft at the Riggs National Bank. Clean and bold signature, very minor loss at one corner. Sold with two campaign postcards from 1908 (an unused, embossed Taft-Sherman jugate titled "Our Choice" and a postally-used card with Taft in a goblet, titled "Here's to the man The Nation Counts On. William H. Taft." LOA from James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA.
