Description
Rutherford Hayes Appointment Signed. One partially printed page, 14 ¾ x 18 inches (sight), Washington, D.C.; December 30, 1878. Appointment of Francis W. Mansfield to First Lieutenant in the Seventh Regiment of the Infantry. Signed, "R.B. Hayes" and countersigned by Secretary of War, George W. McCrary. Matted and framed with an engraving of the president to the overall size of 36 ¼ x 29 ½ inches.Condition: Creased along folds. Red pen notation from Adjutant General's Office in upper left corner. Not examined outside of the frame. Frame is slightly scuffed, separating at the corners, and one portion of the internal framing has been detached.
