Description

Millard Fillmore Autograph Letter Signed as the thirteenth president of the United States. One and one-half pages, 5" x 8", November 19, 1851, Washington, to "Commander L.[ouis] M. Goldsborough" thanking him for his assistance. With a wonderful Fillmore signature; fine. Matted to an overall size of 8.25" x 11.25".

More Information:

In part: "I have your note of this date, and my Steward informs me that the cashe & wine to which you refer from Don Luis Vigue arrived safely. I am greatly indebted to you for the trouble you have taken in this matter." Louis Goldsborough (1805-1877) later served as an admiral in the U.S. Navy during the Civil War.
