Mary Todd Lincoln: Autograph Letter Signed. 1-page ALS, n.p. [likely Chicago], February 23rd [1867], 5" x 7.5". In full: "My dear Mrs. Fowler: Taddie explained to you why I could not see you last night, but did not say that I hoped you would come over this evening. Please do so, as I wish much to see you. Truly, your friend, Mary Lincoln". Normal folds. Clean and bright. The verso has some notations, including measurements for a dress.

This letter descended in the family of Mrs. Fowler, a Chicago neighbor and friend of the First Lady. Henry Fowler, her son, was a playmate of Tad Lincoln. The Fowler Family material is being offered here at auction for the first time.
