    Lyndon B. Johnson Political Appointment Signed as president. One page, 23" x 19", Washington, April 1, 1966, appointing Walt Whitman Rostow of Massachusetts "Special Assistant to the President of the United States of America." Economist and political theorist Walt Rostow (1916-2003) had previously served President Kennedy in various advisory positions. Countersigned by State Secretary Dean Rusk and bearing a large blind-embossed paper seal in the lower left corner. Lightly toned with a thin strip of mat burn along the edges; no folds.
