Lincoln Partly Printed Document, signed twice in an unknown hand "Lincoln, Linn & Sheldon / Attys for plff". Champaign Co., Ill., October 1857, one page, folio. James W. Lindley complains that William W. Wells "unlawfully withholds" possession of a quarter-section of land in Champaign County, to his damage of $1000. A notice at the bottom of the page advises Wells that he must "appear and plead" or suffer judgment by default "and the plaintiff will recover possession…" From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
