    Description

Lincoln Assassination: Three Superlative Autographs. 21" x 17" frame with six windows that contain CDVs and autographs of Abraham Lincoln, John Wilkes Booth and Boston Corbett. The Corbett carte appears to be a copy image of a Brady or Gardner CDV with later caption panel affixed below. The Lincoln clipped signature reads: "A. Lincoln March 20, 1862". The Booth signature is a fragment of a legal form dated February 22, 1864. The Corbett autograph piece is an index card reading: "With kind Regards/ Boston Corbett./ Sergt. Co. L. 16th/ N.Y. Cavalry". All signatures are fine examples. The photographs and signatures tell a story without words. Donald Dow designed the frame which was produced by Newcomb Macklin of Chicago. The Booth signature takes "center stage" in this production!

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
