    Description

    John Tyler Signed Scallop Top Ship's Passport. Partly printed on vellum, 13" x 14.75"; June 10, 1844. Countersigned by John C. Calhoun as Secretary of State. Issued to the "Ship Amethyst - John A Baylies, master or commander."

    Condition:
    Blind embossed paper seal is present. Two flattened horizontal folds, as is typical with vellum. Tyler's signature is large and quite bold. The vellum is translucent in a few areas. Overall, very clean and attractive. Some showthrough from dockets on verso.
