Description

John Quincy Adams Signature and Sentiment. One page of a bifolium, 5" x 8"; Bangor, [Maine], September 16, 1840. He signs in full at top, "John Quincy Adams," adding in full: "With his fervent good wishes and prayers for the prosperity of the inhabitants of Bangor, and the happiness of the fair Lady at whose request he has written his name / Bangor 16 September 1840." With flattened folds and gentle toning. Accompanied by a carte de visite of Adams made from an engraving with Gurney & Sons photo stamp. Dampstaining on the verso does not affect the albumen. With a pencil identification on the verso.
