John Quincy Adams Portrait Engraving Signed. 2.62" x 4" This N[athaniel] Dearborn engraving features the half-bust of the sixth president within an ornamental frame. Below the caption, which reads "John Quincy Adams / 6th President of the U.S. of America," is a facsimile signature. The president's signature, "John Quincy Adams," is boldly written above the engraving. Adams was the first president to be photographed, though that image was taken after he had left office and after the dating of this engraving. He is also, likely, the first president to sign any likeness (no signed photograph of Adams is known to exist), making this signed engraving of the sixth president rare and desirable.Condition: Toning at margins with minor stains at the upper and lower right corners. Toned and slightly smudged on verso.
