    Description

    John Quincy Adams Musical Copyright Patent Signed "John Quincy Adams" as Secretary of State. One page, 8" x 10", Washington, D.C.; April 11, 1820. This early musical patent, No. 27, reads, in part:

    "William Williams has...a certain Book, consisting of 277 pages entitled 'Musica Sacra; or Springfield and Utica Collections United: consisting of Psalms and Hymn Tunes, Anthems and Chants: arranged for two three or four voices with a figured Calls for the organ or Piano Forte, by Thomas Hastings or Solomon Wariner...the copy-right is claimed by Williams Williams as Proprietor..." An embossed paper seal is present at the lower left corner. The document is matted and framed to the overall size of 14.5" x 16.5".

    Condition: Flattened folds, with slight creasing at the edges. Light soiling at the top left corner where the seal stained the folded paper. Boldly signed in brown ink.
