Description

John Quincy Adams Document Signed "J.Q. Adams." One page, 12" x 8.5", Washington D.C., March 15, 1827. This land grant was written for Eli Abbot of Dearborn County, Indiana. The grant reads in part, "…it appears that full payment has been made by the said Eli Abbot according to the provisions of the Act of Congress of the 24th of April 1820 entitled 'An act making further provisions for the sale of the Public Lands' for the East half of the South West quarter of section twenty seven, in township Eleven North of Range nine East in the district of lands offered for sale at Indianapolis Indiana; Containing Eighty Acres…" Adams signs this document in the lower right, as President of the United States, and it is countersigned by George Graham, Commissioner of the General Land Office. The 2.25" seal of the General Land Office is affixed at the left. The land grant is framed and matted.

The document is in fine condition; usual folds are present; soiling present on left and right edges; pencil marks visible in upper right corner. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
