    Description

    John Quincy Adams Clipped Signature Mounted on a Carte de Visite of Adams Published By E & H.T. Anthony from a Mathew Brady Negative. The signature, "J.Q. Adams", is on a tiny slip measuring 1.7" x .4" and is affixed to the mount immediately below the albumen. Overall size of the carte de visite is 2.4" x 3.8". The image has some silvering and discoloration in the negative and the corners of the mount have been trimmed. The photographer's stamp on the verso reads, "Published by E. & H.T. Anthony . . . New York from Photographic Negative in Brady's National Portrait Gallery."
