Description
John F. Kennedy Typed Letter Signed. One page on United States Senate letterhead, 6.75" x 9" (sight), Washington, D.C.; February 13, 1956. Addressed to Barnett B. Berliner, Senator Kennedy writes, in full, "Thank you very much for your letter of recent date. In accordance with your request, I am having the Yearbook of Agriculture for 1955, entitled, 'Water,' sent to you under separate cover. I appreciate your interest in writing to me, and you may be sure of my willingness to be of assistance at any time." Signed, "John Kennedy." Matted and framed to an overall size of 11" x 14".From 1953 to 1960, John F. Kennedy served as the junior senator of Massachusetts. It is there that the young democrat rose to national prominence when he joined the Senate Select Committee on Improper Activities in the Labor and Management Field. He formed part of the committee selected to choose the Senate's "Famous Five," which honored outstanding former members by placing their photographs in the Reception Room. Soon after starting his second term as Senator, Kennedy launched a successful presidential campaign that landed him in the White House only one year later.
