Description

John F. Kennedy Typed Letter Signed as President signed in ink, one page (6.75" x 8.75"), White House stationery, dated August 15, 1963. Written to Vincent X. Flaherty. In full, "Dear Vince: You and Mrs. Flaherty were kind indeed to think of us at this very difficult time. Your message was a comfort to me and my family and we are very grateful to you." Kennedy is referring to the tragic death of his son, Patrick Bouvier Kennedy, who was born prematurely on August 7, 1963 and died two days later of hyaline membrane disease (now known as respiratory distress syndrome). Author Vince Flaherty was the screenwriter for "PT109," the 1963 movie adaptation of R. J. Donovan's book of the same title, which chronicled Kennedy's WWII heroics. This desirable letter is in excellent condition with one original mailing fold. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
