    John F. Kennedy Political Appointment Signed as president. One page, 23" x 19", Washington, January 21, 1961, appointing Walt Whitman Rostow of Massachusetts "Deputy Special Assistant to the President of the United States of America." Economist and political theorist Walt Rostow (1916-2003) later served President Johnson as Special Assistant for National Security Affairs. This document is countersigned by State Secretary Dean Rusk and bearing a large blind-embossed paper seal in the lower left corner. Toned and foxed, though no folds. Backed by paperboard.
