Description

John F. Kennedy Inscribed Photograph Signed. Measuring 10.25" x 13.25" (sight), this iconic black and white, Louis Fabian Bachrach photograph shows the president, chest up in a pin-stripe suit, staring directly at the camera, a slight rise on the left side of his lips. Mounted to a backing board, Kennedy has placed an inscription directly below the photograph, reading: "For Clarence Cannon - a distinguished and valued public servant with the esteem and very best wishes of his friend. John F. Kennedy." Light silvering around the edges. Framed to an overall size of 16.25" x 20.25".

After his first sitting had been cancelled, Bachrach went to Washington from Boston for a second try. Of the sitting, he said, "I waited for Kennedy for eight hours. When he arrived, he wasn't too pleased that I was there. He gave me only 10 minutes, but I had the pose all figured out beforehand -- a sitting pose. It became his official portrait."
