John F. Kennedy Handwritten Note on White House Letterhead. One page, 6.25" x 9.25", Washington, D.C.; circa 1961. A typed memorandum signed by Letitia Baldridge, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy's social secretary, to President Kennedy asking that he "sign in these specially bound copies of your book." She lists 15 names, including Cabinet members and family.

On the bottom of the memorandum, President Kennedy wrote the following note "Shriver Steve Teddy & Peter" referring to Sargent Shriver, Stephen Smith, Edward "Ted" Kennedy and Peter Lawford, all of whom were included on the list. All of the names have check marks alongside them, including several using the same ink as Kennedy's note.

The book in question was likely President Kennedy's January 20, 1961 inaugural address which was bound in gilt-stamped ivory cloth and housed in a gilt-stamped slipcase. It was printed specifically for the president in a limited edition for presentation to his closest advisors, associates, friends, and family at Christmastime of 1961. From the Estate of Malcolm S. Forbes.

Condition: A bit of residue (possibly glue) at the top right hand corner; otherwise fine condition.
