DescriptionJohn F. Kennedy Group of Typescript Remarks. A collection of documents from Kennedy's tenure as a Democratic Senator, spanning the years from 1953-1960. Approximately fifteen typed remarks, including at least one with holographic edits made by Kennedy himself.
Most notable in the group is a draft of a speech Kennedy delivered to Boston Catholic Alumni, on February 5, 1956. Titled at top of the first page, "Draft of Remarks - Solidarity in Boston", the typescripts is nine pages, 8" x 10.5". In it, he discusses the legislation on Natural Gas and agricultural policies, making the point that the issues are not clear cut and the general public should take an interest. Kennedy has added five words on page three; and on page 4, he has made a small note in the left margin. There are lines and phrases underlined in the same ink as Kennedy's emendations that were likely made by him. There is a second set of edits made in pencil in another hand.
There are other typescripts in the group that have emendations, made in either pencil or ink, but it is unclear whether or not these were made by Kennedy. Speeches include Communist Situation in Kerala, two pages, 8.5" x 11", October 29, 1957; Speech Before the Annual Review of the New England Air Review, two pages, 8" x 10.5", October 28, 1955; Comity and Common Sense in the Middle East, seven pages, 8" x 10.5", February 24, 1957, made at the National Conference of Christians and Jews in Cleveland, Ohio; Speech Before the Sixth Annual Conference of the Council of Profit-Sharing Industries, eight pages, 8.5" x 11", Boston, November 12, 1953; Remarks at Annual National Corn Picking Contest, six pages, 8" x 10.5", near Cedar Rapids, Iowa, October 17, 1958; Remarks on New England's Economic Prospects, nine pages, 8.5" x 11", undated; The Steel Strike and the Taft-Hartley Law, five pages, 8" x 10.5", Fayette City, Pennsylvania, October 9, 1959; The Farm Policy, seven pages, 8" x 10.5", undated; Kennedy's Record on Civil Rights and Race Relations, six pages, 8" x 10.5", undated; Kennedy's Statement on Baghdad Pact Military Committee, one page, 8.5" x 14", Washington, March 25, 1957; The Struggle Against Imperialism - Part II, twelve pages, 8" x 10.5", August 21, 1957, accompanied by a cover page with JFK's printed signature; with three booklets of speeches entitled, Facing Facts on Algeria, The Choice in Asia - Democratic Development in India, The Economic Gap, and The War in Indochina. As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
HA.com receives more traffic than any other auction house website. (Source: Similarweb.com)
