    Description

John Adams Land Grant Signed "John Adams" as president. One partially printed, vellum page, 12.75" x 15", Philadelphia, February 28, 1800, granting "...David Reddick and John Mercer...Two thousand acres of land..." The land is awarded "in consideration of military service performed by George Peyton (an Ensign for three years) to the United States, in the Virginia Line on Continental Establishment, and in pursuance of an Act of Congress of the United States..." Countersigned by Timothy Pickering as secretary of state and on the verso by James McHenry as secretary of war. Blind embossed paper seal affixed at left; docketed on the verso. The document has sustained significant damage at the intersection of the main vertical fold with both horizontal folds resulting in loss of paper. Smaller holes are found at the other fold intersection, also with loss of paper and text. The signature of Adams, while fading slightly, is unaffected by the damage. Foxing is scattered throughout.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
