Before John Adams was included among the Founding Fathers, before he was a delegate to two Continental Congresses, and before he was the second president of the United States of America, he was a struggling lawyer in Braintree, Massachusetts. At the end, Adams has written: "Settled all accounts between us to this day, and find due to Cowing 1s [shilling]:7d [pence]. J. Adams." Countersigned at the bottom by Balch Cowing. Smoothed folds with overall toning. Light ink bleed-through from docketing on the verso.
