James K. Polk Autograph Document Signed "James K. Polk." The 11th president of the United States vowed, during his campaign, to only serve one term. He kept this promise and served from 1845-1849. In this short time he accomplished the United States' goal of manifest destiny and westward expansion. He annexed the Oregon Territory south of the 49th parallel. During his presidency, the union added nearly 800,000 square miles of Western territory. His tireless efforts proved fruitful and beneficial for the entire nation.

This lot features a pardon signed by President Polk exonerating a Mr. Eugene A. Launeir of "robbing the mail." The document measures 8.5" x 10.5", and has writing on only one side. It is signed in dark iron-gall ink by President Polk, and dated August 17, 1846. A fascinating document from a president who served only one term, but accomplished a lifetime worth of goals. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
