Description
James Garfield Signed Postmaster's Appointment. One partly printed page, 16.25" x 13" (sight); City of Washington; April 13, 1881. Garfield appoints Chauncey Harris postmaster at Elizabeth in Union County, New Jersey. A scarce presidential appointment. Matted and framed to the overall size of 24.75" x 21.25".Condition: Flattened folds. Transfer staining from the seal and red ribbon are visible at lower right corner.
