Description

James Buchanan Letter Signed. Two page bifolium, 8.25" x 13.25", partially-printed, Washington, November 14, 1845, to J. Garsed, Esq. Written before Buchanan's presidency while he was Secretary of State, this letter is a request to move United States property from one US consulate in the UK, to another. It reads: "Having understood that the archives of the late Consulate of the United States at Kingston upon Hull, are still in your possession, I have to request that you will deliver them, & any other property of the United States, appertaining hereto, to Mr. Albert Davy, Consul of the United States, at Leeds." Envelope included.

Condition:
Smooth folds, light creasing mid-page, mild toning from aging.
