Description
James A. Garfield Signature as President. Signature "James A. Garfield" on a slip measuring 4 ½ x 2 ½ inches (sight), dated April 13, 1881. Garfield would be shot by Charles Guiteau less than three months after the date of this signature. Matted and framed with an engraving of Garfield to an overall size of 11 x 15 ½ inches.Condition: Light smudge affecting the last two letters of the signature. Light age toning. Frame displays light wear, with a few scratches. Not examined out of the frame.
