More Information:

In full: "It is going to be next to impossible for me to make an appearance in Alabama in time to do you any good. As you know, I raised that same question in my last letter to you for I would only consider going there if it would help you. However, I have two problems crowding me - one, a lot of unfinished writing that I am trying to catch up with - the other deals with a flood of invitations to go to many places in connection with the fall elections, a matter that I have had to refer to the Democratic National Committee for scheduling. This is now in the hands of Chairman John M. Bailey, but I will keep on trying for I deeply believe that your role in the Senate is one that is irreplaceable."
