Harry Truman Signed Photograph framed in pine reclaimed from the White House. The B/W photograph measures 10" x 13" (sight) and is matted and framed to an overall size of 16.5" x 20" and features a scene from the White House South Portico looking at the South Lawn directly toward the Jefferson Memorial. The inscription is written to Missouri Congressman Clarence Cannon and reads, "To my good friend Hon. Clarence Cannon with kindest regards & best wishes / White House / May 10, 1949 / Harry S Truman." The pine for the frame came from White House roof timbers that were installed in 1817 and removed in 1927. Affixed to the back of the frame is an autograph letter signed by the architect of the White House, Lorenzo S. Winslow, on White House stationary dated May 12, 1949, explaining the photograph to Congressman Cannon. Minor discoloration exists on the left White House column.
