Description
Harry S. Truman Autograph Cable Signed. One page on American President Lines letterhead imprinted "Mrs. Harry Truman", 7.25" x 10.25"; aboard the SS President Cleveland. A cable addressed to George Killion, president of American President Lines. "Glad to use the Fairmount Suite. Hope you and Mrs. Killion can have dinner with us and M. Gilmore in Oakland. Harry S. Truman."The cable is undated, but possibly dates from May 1953, shortly after Truman left the White House (there is a photograph of Margaret Truman aboard the SS President Cleveland taken in May 1953 at the Truman Library, and it is possible she was with her parents). Killion was high-ranking Democrat who worked as a fund-raiser on Truman's presidential campaign.
Condition: Flattened mail folds, with light age-toning.
