Harry S Truman: 1948 Typed Letter Signed to Cactus Jack. TLS, 1p., Washington, D.C., September 8, 1948, written on White House stationery to former Vice President John Nance Garner, known as "Cactus Jack", simply signed "Harry". The President sends his condolences to Garner attending the death of his wife. He plans to be in Uvalde, Texas on a campaign trip towards the end of October and hopes to visit Garner there in his hometown. He also lists a series of campaign whistle-stops in Texas and invites Garner to join him on his "Special Car". Sold together with the White House transmittal envelope addressed to Garner.
