    Description

    George Washington Three Languages Ship's Passport Signed "G. Washington." One sheet, 13.25" x 16.5", December 21, 1795. A ship's passport issued to Jeremiah Briggs, commander of the sloop Maryland. Also signed by Timothy Pickering as Secretary of State and countersigned by William Webb as collector of duties. Docketing on verso, dated February 20, 1796. With blind embossed paper seal at center left of document and at bottom, and two small paper seals on verso.

    Condition: Flattened folds, lightly toned throughout. Small areas of separations at folds with some paper loss. Tiny chips and creasing at margins. Washington's signature remains bold and free of any damage. An exceptional example.
