Military discharge papers, recognizing the end of three years of service of Private Henry Samson. Washington signed after the fighting, but before the Treaty of Paris, marking the true end of the Revolutionary War. Countersigned by John Trumbull Jr., Washington's secretary.
Condition: Fragile. Smoothed folds, with uneven tone due to a previous framing. Likely untrimmed, with pencil outline at margin. Paper loss as vertical fold since repaired.
