Description

Franklin Pierce Autograph Letter Signed. "Fr. Pierce". One page, bifolium, November 1, 1852, Concord, New Hampshire. A brief letter, written by the fourteenth president just over four months before he took office. In full: "My Dear Sir, Nothing appeared in the trial of the Wentworths that should excite prejudice against either of them. I know nothing against the reputation of the Gentleman to whom you refer."
Condition: Smoothed folds, toning, scattered foxing, with tape affixed to the verso.
