Franklin Pierce Autograph Letter Signed. Two pages with integral blank, 5" x 8", Andover [Massachusetts], December 1, 1863. Writing to his niece, Ann, he talks about the suffering of his wife, Jane, from tuberculosis: "For the last 48 hours she has been a great sufferer and the Doctor gives no encouragement for recovery...she may not survive the night."
