Description

    Franklin D. Roosevelt Typescript Address to the New York State Legislature. Eight pages, all but the last page measuring 9.75" x 16". State of New York, Executive Chamber; January 19, 1931. A printed address to the state legislature outlining his arguments in support of founding the St. Lawrence Power Project to construct a hydroelectric facility on the St. Lawrence River. Roosevelt's signs on the last page, which measures 9.75" x 7". Each page is stamped 9341 in red ink, and there are printing instructions throughout.

    Although Roosevelt was successful in signing the Power Authority Act in 1931, he would continue working on the project during his presidency. Construction of the plant did not begin until 1954. From the Estate of Malcolm S. Forbes.

    Condition: Soiling throughout. All pages have been tipped in to larger pages.
