    Franklin D. Roosevelt Signed Petition "FD Roosevelt." Single page (made up of two sheets adhered together), 8" x 24.5", November 1909. A petition to Governor Charles E. Hughes of New York urging the appointment of Charles H. Truax to the Supreme Court for the State of New York. Roosevelt's is one of thirty-three signatures on the document. A notation (in an unknown hand) in pencil at the top of the document reads, "This is one of many such sheets. Hughes did not grant the petitions. He had a personal feud with Judge Truax."

    Condition: Small holes at top left corner from removed staples. Adhesive staining from where two documents were glued together. A few small tears, one of which has been reinforced with tape on verso. A few names are marked with Xs, and six names are identified as "lawyers with Parker (Alton B.), Hatch (Edward W.) and Sheehan (Wm. F.)", all markings in pencil.
