Franklin D. Roosevelt: Presidential Christmas Gift. In 1933, FDR wrote "Looking Forward", a book that dealt with his vision for the future and the steps necessary for progress in tackling the Great Depression. This fifth edition from November 1933 is inscribed on the front endpaper: "To Richard A. Bishop with a Merry Christmas from Franklin D. Roosevelt 1933". The inscription is especially bold. FDR often gave inscribed books as Christmas presents to friends and colleagues. The book is in decent condition, with faded spine and light shelf wear. It is accompanied by an invitation to the White House for Mr. & Mrs. Bishop dated February 1, 1934, along with the transmittal envelope and windshield card.
