A classic portrait of FDR seated at his desk before a microphone while delivering a speech. He has signed his signature boldly in the lower right margin. A fine, clear example of Roosevelt's signature. Accompanying the photograph is a typed biography of Roosevelt and on which we find that the photo was presented to Mrs. James William Somerville, one of the White House secretaries at the time.

A terrific autographed sepia photograph of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, taken in the Executive Office of The White House during FDR's first term of office (1933-1937). The photograph is of FDR seated at his desk with a microphone in front of him, papers in his hand, ready to give a major speech to the Nation. The photograph measures 8½ x 11" including the margin, and FDR boldly signs in ink on lower right margin. The photograph is in excellent condition, there are three holes from a three hole punch in top margin as photo was stored in a three ring binder. Also, included with the photograph is an original typed page describing the photograph and its chain of custody, as well as biographical information about FDR. The accompanying document reads, in part, "Taken in the executive office of The White House during his first term of office (1933-1937)./ Presented to Mrs. James Wm. Somerville by President Roosevelt while Mrs. Somerville was a secretary at The White House./ Presented to me by Mrs. James Wm. Somerville Sept. 18-1947." A unique and wonderful photograph of FDR before or after giving a speech from his office.
