A wonderful and historic FDR rarity, an October 19, 1927 check filled out completely in FDR's own hand and signed by FDR, made out to E. T. Curtis, Manager, for the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation. The check is in the amount of $117.00, a substantial sum in 1927, and is in excellent condition. The check is written by FDR in his own hand in dark black ink, all the writing is still very bold. FDR has added "Pres" after his signature as President of the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation. FDR also notes that the check is for the "Patients' Aid Fund." The check itself is 8 ¼ x 3 ¼." On the verso of the bank check are several bank stamps including a stamp in green ink and a stamp in red ink paying to the order of the Bank of Manchester, Georgia, and another stamp in purple ink from the Chemical Bank in New York, New York, noting that payment was received on October 31, 1927. The check and the signature of FDR is in pristine condition. This is simply a wonderful, early and rare FDR and Georgia Warm Springs piece.
