Franklin D Roosevelt Autograph Letter Signed "F.D.R." Two pages, front and back, 6" x 7", Hyde Park [New York]; "Tuesday" [no date]. In a letter to Helena Mahoney (nicknamed "Hony"), Roosevelt writes to thank Mahoney for her recent work and notifies her of his upcoming schedule. It is possible that this letter dates from early in 1927, as Roosevelt writes about hiring Irvin McDuffie, who started working as a valet in 1927. The Warm Springs rehabilitation center was opened in 1926. The letter reads, in full:

"Dear Hony - You don't know what a comfort it is to me to know that the child is in your care & too, you were a bulwark of strength & help those bad days last week - No wire from W.S. today except a good report from Goode - I think you'd better wire me to Poughkeepsie on Friday and Sunday - I will probably stay here till Monday then go to N.Y. & then off to Warm Springs as soon as I can get away. Be sure to let me know if there is anything I can bring or send for any of you - By the way - you need not pay McDuffie till I get down - I would rather pay him twice a month - I do so hope the nightmares have stopped."

Helena Mahoney was Roosevelt's personal physical therapist and later became the head therapist at Warm Springs. The rehabilitation center was founded to aid victims of polio.

Condition: Flattened mail fold, with light toning throughout with darker toning at the top edge. There is a faint spot of pink soiling at the center horizontal fold.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
