Description

Exceptional Richard Nixon Typed Letter Signed, referencing the Laugh-In television show on which he made a famous appearance. 7" x 10", June 20, 1969 letter on White House stationery. Extra fine but for original folds for envelope insertion, and nicely custom framed. Signed "RMN" a typical signature for a letter to an intimate.
Nixon writes to an entertainment industry figure and Republican insider Paul Keyes: "When I returned from Midway I was pleased to learn that Laugh-In had been awarded another Emmy, and I want to take this opportunity to send congratulations and also to say what I am sorry has not been said to you more often over the years..." He goes on to thank Keyes effusively for his "...generous friendship and assistance..." over the years. Nixon concludes: "...Had the Pope removed Paul from the ranks of the saints, we could have had a replacement..." An uncharacteristically exuberant letter from the normally restrained Nixon, showing how he could relax when relating to a longtime and trusted friend. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
