    Eleanor Roosevelt Typed Letter Signed as First Lady and Al Jolson Autograph Letter Signed. One page, on White House letterhead, 6" x 9.25", Washington DC, December 7, 1943. Being an invitation to Al Jolson to join her for a cocktail party. On verso, Jolson has penciled a brief note explaining that he will not be able to attend; signed "Al." Letter is faintly toned, with a bit of discoloration at lower right.


    More Information:

    In full: "Dear Mr. Jolson: I am asking a few people whom I want to thank personally for all they have done in the entertainment of service men, to come to my small apartment, #29 Washington Square West, 15-A, on December the 13th, at five o'clock, and it would give me much pleasure to see you if you are free and could join us for tea or cocktails. Very sincerely yours, Eleanor Roosevelt."
