    Chester Arthur Postmaster Appointment Signed "Chester A. Arthur". One partially printed page, 17" x 14", Washington, D.C.; March 20, 1883. Appointing "Elias H. Davis...Postmaster at Avon, in the County of Livingston, State of New York." Countersigned by Frank Hatton as Acting Postmaster General, with a copper paper embossed seal at the lower left with red ribbons still intact. Patriotic vignette at the top margin.

    Condition: Bold signature by Arthur. Flattened folds. The paper seal is creased and folded at the top edge. Light toning and creasing at the edges and corners. Some areas of soiling around the signature.
